As we approach the Jubilee Year 2025, the call for pilgrimage resonates throughout the Catholic Church. Pope Francis has designated this Holy Year as a time for all of us to renew our faith, our sense of community, and our commitment to charity. The Jubilee Year of Hope invites us to become "Pilgrims of Hope," seeking spiritual renewal and transformation through prayer, penance, and acts of mercy. One of the most meaningful ways to live out this call stateside is by visiting a sacred shrine, and NASPA is here to guide you on that journey!
Pilgrimage: A Spiritual Journey
Pilgrimage is more than just a physical journey—it’s a spiritual invitation to deepen your relationship with God, reflect on your faith, and experience a renewal of hope. Pilgrimages have been central to the Catholic tradition for centuries, and the Jubilee Year offers an opportunity to engage with this practice anew. During the Jubilee Year of Hope, pilgrims can receive a plenary indulgence by visiting sacred sites, including NASPA-recognized shrines across the U.S.
Stateside Pilgrimages: A Local Invitation to Holiness
Recognizing that not all pilgrims can travel to Rome or the Holy Land, Pope Francis encourages dioceses and Catholic communities to hold "stateside" celebrations. Many NASPA shrines will host special events and pilgrimages throughout the Jubilee Year, allowing you to experience the grace of this Holy Year close to home. From penitential services to pilgrim masses and guided reflections, these shrines offer a variety of ways to engage in the spiritual journey. The Jubilee Prayer: A Prayer of Hope and Renewal
As the Church unites to celebrate this Holy Year, we can pray the Jubilee Prayer to deepen our connection to God:
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen
This prayer calls us to transformation, within our hearts and in the world around us. By visiting NASPA shrines, you can take part in this renewal and allow God’s grace to touch your life in profound ways. Start planning your pilgrimage today, and experience the grace of the Jubilee Year in a NASPA shrine near you!
