The National Association of Shrine and Pilgrimage Apostolate (NASPA) team is pleased to welcome The Most Reverend Gerardo J. Colacicco as the newly appointed Episcopal Liaison for our national network connecting shrines and pilgrimage organizations.
“We are grateful to have Bishop Colacicco join our mission by serving in this role,” said Carol Bezak, Vice President of NASPA and Director of The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. “The Episcopal Liaison helps represent NASPA to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), encourages the pilgrimage apostolate at the regional and diocesan levels, and helps promote the apostolate through his own initiatives.”
“As we enter into the national Eucharistic Revival, we know that Shrines can play a key role in enkindling a living relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist,” noted Marilyn Santos, Associate Director, Secretariat of Evangelization & Catechesis for the USCCB, and the current NASPA liaison. “Together, this partnership between the USCCB and the NASPA team strengthens our common witness to faith, hope and love, which transforms the world in the love of Jesus Christ.”
As the national network connecting shrines, pilgrimages and journeys of faith, NASPA works to renew understanding of shrines as key to the new evangelization, inspire interest in pilgrimages as part of a journey of faith, and serve the teams who directly minister to visitors.
